The thing that ruins first visits here is not “missing a waterfall” — it is treating closed campgrounds as “we’ll just camp on the beach”, putting a 2WD hire car on the coastal strip, or packing Perth into a same-day return. Nyinggulara (still commonly called Ningaloo) is remote coastal Country next to Ningaloo Marine Park — no park entry fee, no formal named walking tracks, no fuel or water on undeveloped sites. This is not a Sydney-side day park. Drive times below are typical planning ranges from published tourism distances (Perth–Exmouth is a long North West Coastal Highway haul), not a “we left at 6:12” field diary.
A town-base slice from Exmouth or Coral Bay: one legal shore session or a Cape Range-style nearby day — not a first remote-strip 4WD. From Perth this is not a realistic window at all.
Exmouth or Coral Bay as the clock: marine tour or a conservative day access if officially open, back to town for water and fuel. Do not invent a sealed picnic loop on the Nyinggulara strip.
Still based in Exmouth or Coral Bay. Typical planning ranges: Perth is a long sealed haul of about 12–13+ hours each way to Exmouth (order-of-magnitude tourism figures — not a timed diary). Fly into Learmonth if you only have days, not a driving week.

Official materials state no park entry fee for Nyinggulara National Park. That is separate from camping fees, tour products and commercial stays.
Inside the park there are five designated campgrounds only — not freestyle beach camping. When open: unpowered, no facilities, portable self-contained toilet mandatory. Book exclusively via official Park Stay / Explore Parks WA.

No fuel or drinking water inside the park. Soft sand, corrugations and tidal creek crossings are normal on coastal tracks. High-clearance 4WD with low-range is the honest baseline for strip access.
This coast is Country of Baiyungu, Thalanyji and Yinigurdira (Yinikurtura) peoples, with joint-management context including Nganhurra Thanardi Garrbu in public World Heritage / DBCA materials. Visitors are guests. This site does not speak for Traditional Owner groups and does not invent cultural detail.

April–October is generally preferred for milder conditions and lower cyclone risk. Summer (roughly November–March) brings heat, humidity and cyclone season. Wildlife windows (whale sharks, humpbacks, turtles) change yearly — treat any calendar as [VERIFY].
Pack for no services on the strip: water, waste systems, sun defence, recovery kit and honest abort rules. Fashion beach bags are the wrong tool for soft-sand 4WD and remote nights.

Milder months (roughly April–October) suit most visitors for heat and cyclone risk. Whale shark interest is commonly March–July; humpbacks roughly June–November — always re-verify seasonally. Summer heat and cyclone risk are real. Check official advice and forecasts.
